Components:

Overcoming Barriers

This component addresses the following barriers to developing Vanua Levu into a sustainable and resilient tourism destination: i) uncoordinated plans and institutions; ii) limited entrepreneurship support, especially for community and women’s engagement in tourism; and iii) vulnerability to natural and climate-related hazards.

Infrastructure and Services:

This Component addresses needs such as airport improvements, road upgrades, and waste management. It will support studies for enhanced air connectivity; better wastewater management in Savusavu; solutions to efficient wastewater treatment; and renewable energy solutions for government buildings and tourist facilities. It also includes cityscape beautification.

Environmental Sustainability:

This Component focuses on Strengthening Natural Resource Management and Biodiversity Conservation  by improving the capacity of communities to effectively manage and maintain the sustainability of locally managed marine areas, awareness raising activities for communities, non-governmental organisations, and tourism operators about environmental conservation; and providing technical assistance for the protection of biodiversity of Natewa Bay and Peninsula.
