Partnering with the Private Sector to Grow Tourism in Vanua Levu
Private sector investment is key to unlocking the full tourism potential of Vanua Levu....
The Fiji Tourism Development Program in Vanua Levu, locally known as the Na Vualiku Project, is a flagship Government of Fiji initiative financed by the World Bank to support sustainable tourism growth across Vanua Levu and Taveuni.
Led by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation in partnership with Fiji Airports and the Fiji Roads Authority, the Project is built on long-term, coordinated investments that strengthen the foundations for tourism and local development.
The Project focuses on improving infrastructure, growing local enterprise, and protecting the cultural and natural assets that make the North unique.
Through this approach, Na Vualiku will help create jobs, expand opportunities for communities, support private sector growth, and enhance the quality and authenticity of visitor experiences.
The Project will upgrade key roads and airports and improve essential services such as water, sanitation, energy, and waste management. It will support tourism businesses by guiding investment and strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises, women-led enterprises, and community-based tourism operators. It will also safeguard Vanua Levu and Taveuni’s environment, culture, and heritage so benefits can be sustained for future generations.
