China Aid Initiative Helping Vanua Levu Roads

In 2024, the Chinese Government signed an agreement for the China Aid Initiative with the Government of Fiji to upgrade and maintain 82 kilometers of rural roads in Vanua Levu. According to FRA, the project, part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative in Fiji, will also see the construction of 22 bridges, benefiting 61 villages and 15 schools, and improving access to healthcare, education, and markets across the region.
