💡Tourism development must reflect the aspirations of the people and communities it will impact.
To help shape this future, an Integrated Tourism Master Plan (ITMP) is being developed for the Northern Division (Vanua Levu and Taveuni), to guide how tourism can grow while supporting local livelihoods, protecting natural and cultural assets, and creating sustainable economic opportunities.

The Na Vualiku Project recently convened stakeholders across the three provinces in Labasa, Nabouwalu, Savusavu, and Taveuni for a series of tourism visioning workshops. These sessions provided an opportunity for communities and stakeholders to jointly define a vision for tourism in the North, physically map existing tourism assets, new areas with high tourism potential and no go zones.

The workshops brought together a range of participants, particularly community representatives, community-based tourism (CBT) operators, government agencies and private sector stakeholders, to discuss opportunities, challenges, and aspirations for tourism development across the region.

Insights and feedback gathered from these sessions will help shape the Integrated Tourism Master Plan, ensuring that future tourism investments are guided by community priorities and support sustainable development across both Vanua Levu and Taveuni.

Through engagements like these, the Na Vualiku Project continues to ensure that tourism planning for the Northern Division is grounded in community voices and local knowledge.
