Protecting What Tourism Depends On

Communications and Outreach Specialist July 30, 2026

Tourism in the North can create jobs and opportunity without losing what makes Vanua Levu and Taveuni magical. 🌿🌊

The Interim Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) carried out for the Fiji Tourism Development Program in Vanua Levu identifies six priorities requiring attention.

It identifies priorities for tourism that protects what matters:

🌿 Reefs, forests and ecosystems

💧 Reliable services and less pollution

🛡️ Climate and disaster resilience

🤝 Land and community partnerships

💼 Safe work, skills and inclusive livelihoods

🏛️ Cultural and natural heritage

Find out how these findings are informing tourism priorities and will support better-informed investment, infrastructure sequencing and destination management.
